According to researchers & economists, by the year 2015 India will be the highest reservoir of Hepatitis virus. Although the prevalence of hepatitis B in India is between four to six percent, awareness regarding the disease is yet to take shape. Creating a proactive social ambience through exchange of scientific information and fostering social development is our mission for conducting awareness programmes. Our work is spread across 7 districts (Nadia, Purulia, Birbhum, Siliguri, Sunderban, Kolkata and recently Murshidabad) of West Bengal and 11 states (Jharkhand, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Guwahati, Manipur, Calicut, Vellore, Bhopal of India. We have tried to concentrate in those rural sectors of the society where either health awareness is inadequate or there is deficiency in delivery of health services. The work is usually promoted through various schools, colleges, universities
and in those communities in the district where we can cater a vast majority of the population who needs adequate information on health and hepatitis B for better living.
Thus the mass gets involved in the whole process of awareness and thus the interest regarding this particular work of hepatitis prevention and management evolves. It is assumed that even after so much of scientific and technological advancement, there still exist various kinds of prejudices, superstitions and misbeliefs about cure of this disease in the general mass. Most of the people still perceive Hepatitis B synonymous with HIV infection. The fact that Hepatitis B is a completely treatable and curable disease is yet to be believed by the general population. Proper guidance and consciousness is highly essential for the betterment of the society and for its future prospects.
Our awareness programs are conducted with the aim of spreading information on Hepatitis B and liver disease in a simplistic way to reach the common people in the society. Till now we have conducted over 200 awareness programs with total participation of more or less 20,000 people. In future we expect more participation on the part of the people to spread correct information on Hepatitis and liver health in general.
If you are interested to organize awareness program or for more information on awareness programs, please feel free to contact us.
